About Joe

Hi, I’m Joe. I’ve been a right-leg below-the-knee amputee for about three years, and the journey hasn’t been easy. At first, every step felt like a challenge — learning to walk with a prosthetic, adjusting to new routines, and figuring out how to live independently again took time, patience, and several different legs along the way. It wasn’t just physical; it was emotional, too. But over time, I’ve found my stride and can now move through life confidently.

I’m 53 years old, and if there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this: no matter your age, it’s absolutely possible to regain a normal, active life after amputation. With perseverance, support, and the right mindset, life doesn’t just continue — it can thrive in ways you might not have imagined.

A huge part of my journey has been my incredible wife, Dede, who’s been by my side for over 35 years. She’s helped me with every appointment, every medical form, every insurance hurdle, and every adjustment — not just physically, but emotionally. Her unwavering support, patience, and love have been the foundation of my recovery, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her.
